Assign ID Screens

The following tutorial is a step-by-step look at several sections of the Online Registration System (ORS).

Section 8: ASSIGN AN NFA ID

Before assigning an NFA ID be sure to conduct a thorough search by name and social security number to guarantee that the individual does not already have an NFA ID.  To access the search screens click on the link that is labeled SEARCH FOR AN NFA ID.  If an NFA ID does not already exist, any one at the firm that has an ORS security level of Update, File or Security Manager may assign one.  An individual's full legal name and social security number are required to assign an NFA ID. 

To assign an NFA ID, enter the individual's first and middle name in the first field, the individual's last name and suffix (i.e., Jr or II) in the second field and the individual's social security number in the third field.  For identification purposes all of these fields are required. Once the required information has been entered, click on the assign NFA ID button.

Individuals who do not wish to supply NFA with their social security numbers or do not have a social security number must contact NFA's Information Center at (312) 781-1410 or toll-free at (800) 621-3570 to have one of our staff persons assign an NFA ID.  NFA's Information Center is available Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST to assist you.

This screen will display when the user has successfully assigned a new NFA ID.  You may now begin an application for the individual by clicking on the box that is labeled Process an Application or begin the process to assign an NFA ID for another individual by clicking on the link that is labeled Assign Another NFA ID.
