For Immediate Release August 23, 2000 For more information contact: NFA bars a Florida introducing broker and its APs August 23, Chicago - NFA permanently barred a Florida introducing broker, Century Trading Group, and ordered several of its associated persons (APs) not to reapply for NFA membership for 30 months. The firm and these APs allegedly failed to supervise the use of sales scripts and provided misleading information to NFA concerning the use of sales scripts at the firm, the termination of two of the firm's APs and the firm's involvement with SPAM e-mails that were distributed to the public. Century Trading, located in Tamarac, Florida, Jeffrey F. Backoff, Martin Sommers and Ralph R. Guertin, the APs of the firm, submitted a settlement offer in which they neither admitted nor denied the allegations in the Complaint. NFA is a congressionally authorized self-regulatory organization for the U.S. futures industry.
