The increased globalization of the financial markets requires greater information sharing between and among international exchanges, investors and regulators. Throughout NFA's history, representatives of foreign governments, exchanges and regulatory agencies have met with NFA staff to increase their knowledge of the role of self-regulation in financial markets.
NFA offers a number of programs and services designed to provide information and training to an international audience, including:
- International training programs
- The International Regulators Alert System - a mechanism for sharing publicly available regulatory information
- The Background Affiliation Status Information Center (BASIC) - a database containing the registration and regulatory background of every firm and individual conducting business on the U.S. futures exchanges
