National Futures Association publishes new Spanish-language guide to help individuals identify and avoid investment scams

February 18, Chicago - National Futures Association (NFA) announced today that it has published a new Spanish-language version of its investor education booklet entitled "Scams and Swindles: An Educational Guide to Avoiding Investment Fraud." The guide describes common characteristics of investment scams and outlines steps individuals can take to avoid them.

"Unfortunately, investment fraud can occur in every community," says NFA's Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Communications Karen Wuertz. "We are pleased to provide this very important information in a format that will reach a wider population."

NFA is the industrywide self-regulatory organization for the U.S. futures industry. Founded in 1982, NFA has developed innovative and efficient regulatory programs and services designed to safeguard the integrity of the futures markets and protect investors.

The Spanish version of "Scams and Swindles" was produced in partnership with Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice. Chicago Appleseed is an impact research, education and advocacy organization working to achieve fundamental, systemic reform by addressing policies and practices that relate to social justice and government effectiveness issues. Chicago Appleseed is part of the Appleseed Network, a non-profit network of 16 public interest justice centers in the U.S. and Mexico (www.chicagoappleseed.org).

Single copies of both the English and Spanish versions of "Scams and Swindles" are offered free of charge.
