National Futures Association presents Money Smart Week seminar - "Introduction to Futures and Options and Avoiding Investment Fraud"

April 19, Chicago - National Futures Association (NFA) will present a seminar that aims to provide individuals with the resources they need to make educated investment decisions and protect themselves against investment fraud. The seminar, "Introduction to Futures and Options and Avoiding Investment Fraud," will be held on Friday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the CBOE Member Lounge, located at 400 S. LaSalle in Chicago, Illinois.

The seminar, co-sponsored by the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), is part of the annual Money Smart Week Chicago program, held this year from April 21-28. The program, coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago features more than 450 free classes, workshops and activities to promote financial education and literacy.

During the seminar, representatives from NFA will provide attendees with information about trading derivatives as well as how to identify warning signs and avoid investment fraud.

"Trading derivatives also involves having the capability to identify red flags and deals that are too good to be true," said Karen Wuertz, Senior Vice President at National Futures Association. "That's why our investor education initiatives aim to help individuals understand the markets and the basics of derivatives trading."

"As a long-time supporter of Money Smart Week, CBOE is pleased to host NFA's educational seminar this year," Debra Peters, Vice President, CBOE's Options Institute, said. "Literacy programs such as NFA's can help investors become more knowledgeable financial consumers and allow them to better manage their financial portfolios."

If you are interested in attending this seminar, please RSVP to Ruth Hong Brininger by Wednesday, April 25 at rhongbrininger@nfa.futures.org or at (312) 781-1371.
