NFA announces Member outreach initiative

January 16, Chicago - Reflecting its commitment to Member education and outreach, National Futures Association (NFA) announced today that it will launch a yearlong initiative called "Issues and Answers 2003: NFA Member Meetings." The first two meetings in the series are scheduled for Los Angeles on February 12 and New York City on February 24.

"NFA has always had a strong commitment to providing the resources our Members need to meet their regulatory responsibilities as efficiently and effectively as possible," said Larry Dyekman, Director of Communications and Education. "This new initiative will give us the opportunity to have face-to-face discussions with many of our Members on current issues."

This initiative actually began in October 2002, when NFA held a Member meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Approximately 55 individuals attended the meeting, covering topics such as security futures products, anti-money laundering and promotional material.

"The response to the Ft. Lauderdale meeting was so overwhelmingly positive that we immediately began planning additional meetings for 2003," said Dyekman.

A few weeks prior to each meeting, NFA will solicit Members located in and around the meeting's location to determine what issues they would like to discuss. The meeting agenda will subsequently be developed to incorporate the Members' suggestions.

"The format is flexible enough for us to tailor each meeting to reflect the specific audience and geographic location," said Dyekman. "And although there will be formal presentations by NFA staff at the meetings, we hope that most of the time will be spent in an open dialogue with our Members."

NFA encourages Members to visit the NFA Web site (www.nfa.futures.org) for the most current information regarding upcoming meetings.
