Rulemaking

The essence of self-regulation involves identifying industry best practices in certain areas and then mandating those practices for the entire industry. NFA identifies areas that may require additional rulemaking and works with its advisory committees to develop appropriate rule proposals. NFA then presents those rule proposals to NFA's Board of Directors. All rule changes approved by the Board are subject to CFTC approval.
