National Futures Association advises investors on how to avoid investment fraud at three Money Smart Week events

April 15, Chicago - In conjunction with Chicago's Seventh Annual Money Smart Week (April 20-26), National Futures Association (NFA) will co-sponsor three upcoming events designed to teach investors how to avoid becoming victims of investment fraud.

NFA staff will present "Don't Become a Victim of Investment Fraud" at two Chicago Public Library locations. One presentation will be held at the Harold Washington Library Center, Chicago Authors Room, 7th floor, on Tuesday, April 22 at noon. A second presentation will be held at the Lincoln Park Branch, Auditorium on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. Attendees will learn how to tell a legitimate investment sales pitch from a fake one, as well as what questions to ask and actions to take when reviewing any investment offer. Admission to the program is free. The Harold Washington Library Center is located on 400 S. State Street and the Lincoln Park Branch is located on 1150 W. Fullerton Avenue. On Wednesday, April 23, NFA will join several other financial agencies at a Financial Literacy and Education Fair at the State of Illinois Building, 100 W. Randolph Street. Regulatory agencies, including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., will distribute information on financial protection, banking, credit and investment.
