In Memoriam: NFA Remembers John F. Sandner
March 12, 2021

NFA remembers John F. Sandner (Jack) who passed away yesterday. In the early 80s, Jack served on NFA's Transitional Board of Directors that implemented NFA's framework, governance and strong self-regulatory principles. Since NFA's inception in 1982, Jack served close to thirty-five years on NFA's Board. Over the years, Jack provided NFA with prudent counsel and was a strong supporter of self-regulation in the derivatives business. Simply put, Jack was instrumental in NFA's tremendous success over the years.
Anyone who knows the futures industry knows that Jack was one of its most important leaders—a man of vision, commitment and energy. More important, he was a man of character. He will be missed but never forgotten.
"Personally, I have known Jack for over forty years since I was a runner on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's trading floor," said NFA CEO Tom Sexton. "Jack was a mentor and friend, and I will miss his guidance and friendship. My thoughts and condolences are with Jack's wife, Carole, and their family."
NFA Board Chair Maureen Downs said, "On behalf of NFA's Board and staff, I would like to recognize Jack for his numerous contributions to both NFA and the industry. His extensive service to NFA contributed greatly to both NFA's formation and NFA's successes throughout the years."
